Unlike other Bollywood aspirants, Payal Rohatgi completed her education before she entered films. Payal had originally chosen to become a computer engineer. Then she stood ninth in the Femina Miss India contest (2000). At that point she shifted gears and moved from Mumbai to Ahmedabad where she modelled for a few prestigious products such as Dabur, Nescafe with well-known filmmakers. Her debut film in Bollywood was Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai.
